Bereavement
Loss is a part of our lives and society acknowledges this
in the rituals it offers to deal with it; funerals, leaving
parties, divorce procedures. But what happens after the official
ritual? Often the initial sensitivity shown by our environment
when we have suffered a loss is time-limited. We feel pressure
to 'get on with life' while a deep sadness is growing within
us that cannot be talked about anymore.
This modern taboo can lead to 'dis-ease' or a feeling of
being stuck and disoriented that seems to be impossible to
shift. The therapeutic environment offers a safe place for
clients to come to terms with their grief at their own pace
so that they can move on once they are ready.
